Soooo, update on where we got to with my s max. Mechanic did a drop test on the battery (to check for voltage drop to ground) and was all functioning correctly. Ran some diagnostics and it finally settled on a faulty ignition relay (which would also explain the power steering low volts fault).
My question is about an intermittent starting problem on a 2003 Ford Focus. It starts most of the time but on occasion when I turn the key to start it doesn't crank or anything. The odometer displays hashed lines but I don't know if the PATS light next to the hazard flasher button goes dark. The last expert told me to get a new key.
