I guess maybe caravans are more useful earlier in the game. What's the most frustrating though is 9/10 times they're not even captured by enemy lords, just looters and bandits. [deleted] • 3 yr. ago. Smithing is the way to go my guy. Once your smithing is high enough, you make 100k javelins for 2 steel and 1 wood. A pre-vassalage caravan will easily survive long enough to cover its costs, and everything after that is free money, not to mention the skill gains for the companion operating the caravan. I typically don't enter vassalage for at least the first two years of a game, as I am busy building hero skills and establishing income sources. Focus on upgrades that bring in taxes. Do not accept any more castles. They are cash sinks. And as long as there is no war, just start chasing and clearing bandits and looters from around your holdings. This gives you income from loot and prisoners, plus it helps improve the economy in the vicinity of your castles. Caravan wages are 5k + not making money. As the title says, it made money for about two days and had normal wages but then the wage starts to become 5k and no money made, is my game glitched? I do think it may be a mod problem as my workshops are always stuck on making about 80 per day - they have raw resources etc. Gotta be mods.
i think the devs had something bigger in mind than just the player, the caravan nerf nerfes the entire world from making money through caravans easily which includes the AI lords as well. Pretty sure they rushed the update without testing it well. There are way too many bandits and random lords that will ruin your caravans every time.

Im sure because the only way to operate a caravan is to buy one becaise you cant lead one yourself unless you pretend and the game Isn't going to make you do that to level up trade. You have to operate the caravan personally. So your party is the caravan. Get a number of troops that keeps you save from bandits but not too many, that will
